The following is an excerpt from Pastor Brenda Givens' Message:Keep Your Eyes on the Lord!, delivered Sunday morning, September 12, 2010.

Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. God is good. He is good.

God IS love. And it is shown in the dictionary, and it has to be a Christian dictionary [what the definition of ‘Love’ is], and it said: “GOD!” And that’s true, that’s the definition of love: "God!" Praise God.

Can we just look to the Lord.

Father God, I just praise You and bless you for this day. Truly this is the day that You have made, we will rejoice and be glad in it, Lord. Father God, thank You for waking us up this morning and bringing us to this house, Lord God, that we can gather as Your people, Lord, being faithful: for You said “forsake not the assembly of yourselves”. And we’re here, Lord God. To hear from You.

I just lift up Your Word to You, and ask You to speak through my lips of clay. Have Your way, Lord, that we might all be blessed, because truly, You are love. And You loved us so much, that You gave Your very best for us, Lord. And the least we can do, is do Your Will, trusting and obeying in You and You alone. And we’ll give You the praise, Lord.

And I give You the praise, Father. I give You all the Glory and all the Honor, for it is in the Name of Your precious Son Jesus, we pray. And all the saints say: ”Amen!” Amen, praise God.

Faith is what God values, hallelujah. I was just looking in the Word, And in Genesis, we see all the people of old had to go through. And they didn’t have Jesus, like we have Jesus! But they trusted God. They really trusted God. I mean. How could God tell Moses, you know, all that he had to go through. And he {Moses} said: “I can’t speak good, I can’t lead the people Lord.” They had to have faith. And to go before Pharaoh, and Pharaoh would just say: “Ok. Leave.” And Pharaoh would just change his mind. And then he {Moses} had that rod in his hand.

And God said: “What do you have in your hand, Moses?” And he said: “This staff, this rod.

And he dropped it on the ground and it turned into a serpent. And it was like: whoa! I mean, the things that he did, all the things that he did…and you know, man couldn’t do it. It had to be God! And Moses—you know how his mother had favor and had faith, to know that this child was different from the other babies. And look what happened.

He got to lead the people of God out of bondage. Even though they were disobedient, they walked in the wilderness for 40 whole years, even though it was only a, I think it was only a 13 day journey. But because of their disobedience, they had to go around the mountain.

And to me, that reminds me so much of ourselves, and the things that we do, because we don’t believe God, and we’re not acting in faith a lot of times. And we think: “God, I can do it. I can do it.” But really, we can’t do anything without Him.
